The Indianapolis Colts have given permission to running back Jonathan Taylor to seek a trade, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

The news arrives amid an ongoing standoff as Taylor has unsuccessfully sought an extension to his rookie contract, which expires at the end of next season. With the two sides deadlocked, Taylor reportedly requested a trade during a meeting with owner Jim Irsay in July, a request that Irsay denied.

“We don’t trade with Jonathan…End of discussion,” Irsay told MMQB’s Albert Brier via text On July 29th. “Not now, not in October!”

Heading into the season, Irsay’s attitude to trading Taylor has now changed. It is not immediately clear if the Colts have engaged in trade discussions with other teams.
